SKAM – Part 4, Noora
ARTICLE BY MAR, International Coolhunter.
Sales are making me run against the clock – the available items are disappearing fast. So as promised, here’s a somewhat rushed but well-researched article with more Noora’s clothes: after all, she is the main character in SKAM’s Season 2 and, as we mentioned, the style icon of the series.
I have to admit that she brings to reality one of the main concerns I’ve had for the past couple of years, which upsets me to a certain degree: the fact that, if you’re a girl, you are supposed to dress in a specific way that will highlight your feminine body traits. I’ve written about this before, in the Post-Apocalyptic article that was -sniff sniff- severely crippled while this site migrated -photos and links gone-.
Anyhow, I’ve wondered several times what would happen if a girl decided to dress in ‘baggy’ clothes -in lack of a better word- and how differently she would be treated in society: in school, at work, would it be harder to make friends? And what about potential partners? One experiment I’d like is to have all girls at a high school / university dress in absolutely non-flattering clothes and no make-up or accessories. I’d really like to see the social consequences of that. But then some garments come to mind where women have to hide all of their bodies in ghost-like sheets and men still find whatever excuse for sexiness.
In any case, Noora represents half of my wished experiment, because while she wears baggy jeans and loose blouses buttoned all the way up, and no scoop necks, she still looks feminine with her red lipstick and some tight tops. The important thing here is that her actual key styling point is her personality, not her clothes. And the experiment results are very interesting, so we’re half way there.

Here I’ll post some of my finds, so you can get any of the items you may like, before they are gone.
Noora wears virtually 2 pants or 2 kinds of pants in the whole show: (high-waist) mom / girlfriend / 90s / baggy jeans, whatever you wish to call them, and high-waist dress black pants that are also baggy on top and with a tapered leg. No more. The kind of jeans she wears are the most difficult to pull off, especially if your waist and hip measurements don’t match exactly the ones by the brand you’re getting the jeans from. My best advice here: check measurements on sizing charts before getting a pair, and buy the jeans from the brand that matches better your own measurements.
Noora’s jeans’ type tend to fit better with a combination of very slim waists and larger hips. They are really unkind to non-tiny waists and if you have narrow hips, the baggy effect will look wonderful -insert sarcasm-. I guess if you want to go for a non-caring lose style and have a straight body, boyfriend jeans are better (lower waist, straight hips), because Noora’s jeans require some kind of hour-glassy body structure (high waist, larger hips).
Here are the jeans Noora wears on SKAM. I’d say she only wears the same ones throughout the series, though I can’t swear to that. I believe she wears a regular blue pair, but in some shots it seems she could also be wearing a lighter hue.

And next, here are some of her tops (you can find a few more on the 1st post on SKAM clothes here).
Get the Labrina knitted top here: http://www.monki.com/es/Knits/Labrina_knitted_top/13211-14513036.1
Noora wears this pinkish top in at least a couple of episodes, the same as the black top -again, kudos for a realistic wardrobe in the show, since clothes are worn more than once-.
While the ribbing is very difficult to make out, there are some shots where you can see it.
And yet another ribbed top (takk for hjelpen, Regina Forstrønen Torsvik!):
Finally, a sweet little gift for last: the lovely bra Noora wears on the last episode of Season 2, underneath the striped Dita top by Bik Bok (see on our first post here).
That one was a pretty hard one to identify, since it can barely be seen on the show, but after checking all details multiple times and getting red eyes, it’s a match. For some reason, I feel a little uncomfortable posting a screenshot of Noora wearing the bra, so here’s the item itself, and you can see it toward the end of episode 12, Season 2 here.
—-UPDATE 28 JUNE:
Summer is here and what best way to honour it than to feature the shoes Noora wears in a couple of episodes, in this warm season? (meaning, when it’s warm season in Norway…)
Noora wears a pair of ‘alpargatas’ both in the last episode of Season 2 when William and her finally venture into his flat after a certain incident.
She also wears them to celebrate Norway’s National Day, 17 May, a huge celebration in the whole country where Norwegian flags abound, many go dressed in ‘bunads’ -traditional Norwegian clothes, specific to each region of the country-, and much more. 17 May is a big deal in Norway, and you can see some of the girls in the series wearing their ‘bunads’ on the photo below.
The shoes Noora wears in these two episodes are by Argentinian brand PAEZ and are both really cute and comfortable. The most difficult part here was to get what exact style of PAEZ ‘alpargatas’ Noora wears, that is, what colour. To me they looked army green / khaki, but browsing the catalogue of PAEZ shoes, nothing seemed to match Noora’s shoes in terms of colour.
Thankfully, there is a PAEZ flagship store in Barcelona, and taking a trip there solved the mystery. The ‘alpargatas’ Noora wears are PAEZ original cork canvas kakhi. Don’t get fooled by the colour on the brand’s website: these are army green in person and match the colour Noora wears. The shoes have a leather insole that adds to extra comfort, and come in both women’s and men’s sizes: so actually you can get above a size 41 in these, if needed. That being said, the sales assistants told me the shoes do stretch, so it’s better to get a pair that is a bit smaller than your size -but not as small as it will mutilate your feet-.
Enjoy summer with Noora’s lovely and comfortable ‘alpargatas’!
